The Montgomery County Council meets tomorrow at 9 am for its weekly meeting. The legislative session includes the final reading of Bill 3-24 concerning the hours of operation for Late Night Establishments. Prince George's County
Prince George's County Council
The Prince George's County Council will meet tomorrow at 11 am. During this meeting, the Council will have the First Reading of CB-028-2024, an ordinance concerning nonresidential base zones and permitted principal uses related to cigar lounges/clubs, and is scheduled for referral to the Planning, Housing and Economic Development (PHED) committee. The Consent Agenda includes the introduction of Resolutions, such as CR-023-2024 and CR-024-2024, concerning water and sewer plan amendments and the FY 2025 Annual Action Plan for Housing and Community Development, respectively.
CB-020-2024, an act concerning woodland and wildlife habitat conservation, is up for introduction to the Council. This bill would revise existing regulations to comply with state mandates regarding forest conservation, covering areas like definitions, applicability, exemptions, plan review, enforcement, and conservation requirements. The bill is set for introduction by the Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy, and Environment (TIEE) Committee and has undergone favorable recommendations with amendments.

Alexandria City
Alexandria City Council:
The Alexandria City Council will hold a legislative meeting tomorrow at 7 pm.An item of note on the agenda is the Introduction and First Reading, Consideration, and Passage on First Reading of an Ordinance to Increase the Late Payment Penalty on Personal Property Taxes. This ordinance aimed to raise the late payment penalty from 10% if paid no more than 30 days late to 25% if paid more than 30 days past the due date. The discussion emphasized the importance of maximizing revenue through allowed penalties while ensuring fair tax collection practices. The proposed ordinance was part of the FY 2025 Proposed Budget and is set for a second reading and public hearing on April 13, 2024.
