District of Columbia



DC Council

The DC Council will not have a Legislative meeting this week


DC State Board of Education

The DC State Board of Education will not have a public meeting this week.


 

Maryland


Maryland General Assembly:

The Maryland House of Delegates and the Maryland Senate are in session.

Charles County



Board of Charles County Commissioners

The Board of Charles County Commissioners will hold a session tomorrow at 9 am. Tomorrow's meeting will focus on legislative updates concerning the 2024 Maryland General Assembly Session as well as annual updates from the Charles County Property Tax Assessment Appeal Board and the Board of Electrical Examiners. The afternoon session will discuss Collaborative Community Improvement Projects aiming to enhance community development initiatives. The Board will also review and approve the FY2025 Annual Transportation Priority Letter to the Maryland Department of Transportation.


Charles County Board of Education

The Charles County Board of Education will hold a public meeting at 1 pm tomorrow.

The meeting will have, as always, an update from various officers, including the Superintendent's report as well as updates from the Education Association of Charles County (EACC) and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). Notable legislative items include resolutions for Arab American Heritage Month, Autism Acceptance Month, Month of the Military Child, and Volunteer Awareness Month. Additionally, the board will review recommendations from the Initial Elementary Redistricting Committee and deliberate on the naming of School 23. Unfinished business will focus on the Board Handbook, while new business and future agenda items will be discussed.

Montgomery County


Montgomery County Council

The Montgomery County Council meets tomorrow at 9:15 am. On the agenda, there is an announcement list regarding upcoming public hearings on the FY25 Operating Budget, seeking input on various sectors including Montgomery County Government, Montgomery College, and Montgomery County Public Schools. In addition, it will be announced that the council is seeking applicants for the Public Election Fund Committee.


The consent calendar includes actions on supplemental appropriations, resolutions for appointments to various committees and boards, and acknowledgments of reports from the Inspector General and the Office of Legislative Oversight. Later in the day, the council will hold public hearings and take action on several supplemental appropriations related to health and education. Work sessions will cover topics such as the Takoma Park Minor Master Plan Amendment and the FY25-30 Capital Improvements Program.


Montgomery County Board of Education

The Montgomery County Board of Education will not hold a business meeting this week.

Prince George's County



Prince George's County Council


The Prince George's County Council will meet tomorrow at 11 am and will introduce several significant resolutions. Among the proposed bills is CB-011-2024, focusing on transparency in settlement agreements involving the county government or its employees. Additionally, CB-012-2024 aims to revise procurement practices, while CB-016-2024 addresses safety plans for late-night businesses.


The council will also discuss CB-017-2024, which proposes changes to the composition and salary of the Board of Appeals, and CB-019-2024, concerning employment fairness for returning citizens. Moreover, various appointments are on the agenda, including the Director of the Department of Corrections and a member of the Prince George’s County Commission for Women. The meeting will include an executive session to discuss pending litigation matters.


Prince George's County Board of Education


The Prince George's County Board of Education will not have a full Board meeting this week.

Alexandria City



Alexandria City Council:

The Alexandria City Council is scheduled to hold its legislative meeting tomorrow at 6:45 p.m. Several proclamations, including recognizing Women’s History Month and Virginia Flood Awareness Week 2024, will be discussed. Additionally, the council will address a range of grant applications, including those related to climate pollution reduction and creative community partnerships. Notable legislative items at this meeting include ordinances regarding procurement practices revisions, late-night business safety plans, and amendments to sewer connection permits and zoning maps. The meeting will also feature appointments to various boards, commissions, and committees.


Alexandria City Board of Education


The Alexandria County Board will not hold a public meeting of the full Board this week.
