CLPA List of Upcoming DC Area Policy Meetings (October 1-October 6)

In the week ahead, residents in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area can anticipate a busy schedule of meetings and hearings by local government bodies. In the District of Columbia, the DC Council is set to convene a Legislative meeting on Tuesday at 12 pm. They will deliberate on various matters, including the Prior Authorization Reform Amendment Act of 2023 and the School Student Vaccination Amendment Act of 2023. The DC State Board of Education, however, will not hold a public meeting this week.


In Charles County, the Board of Charles County Commissioners will gather on Tuesday at 9 am, where they will address a request to introduce and schedule a public hearing on the Removal of Elected County Commissioner (Bill 2023-(12)). Additionally, there will be a public hearing at 6:15 pm to discuss the 2023 Proposed Bond Issuance. Moving to Montgomery County, the Montgomery County Council is scheduled to meet on Tuesday at 9 am. The primary agenda item is the State Legislative Proposals from the Montgomery County Executive Branch for the 2024 State Legislative Session of the General Assembly.


In Prince George's County, the Prince George's County Council will convene its meeting tomorrow at 10:00 AM. The agenda features several noteworthy bills and resolutions, including those addressing a Local Business Childcare Grant Program, housing opportunities for returning citizens, minimum wage standards for tipped employees, and county employees' access to local healthcare. The Prince George's County Board of Education, however, will not have a public meeting this week.


Shifting to Virginia, in Alexandria City, the Alexandria City Council will not have a public meeting this week. Similarly, the Alexandria City School Board will not hold a public meeting. In Arlington County, the Arlington County Board and the Arlington County School Board will not have public meetings this week. Lastly, in Fairfax County, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will host their Legislative Committee meeting on Tuesday at 9:30 am, discussing the draft 2024 Legislative Program. The Fairfax County School Board, however, will not hold a full Board meeting this week.


District of Columbia



DC Council

The DC Council will hold a Legislative meeting this Tuesday at 12 pm. At the meeting, they will discuss:

  • B25-0124 - Prior Authorization Reform Amendment Act of 2023

  • B25-0278 - School Student Vaccination Amendment Act of 2023 (Final Reading)

DC State Board of Education

There will not be a public meeting of the DC State Board of Education this week.


 

Maryland


Maryland General Assembly:

Both the Maryland House of Delegates and the Maryland Senate are currently adjourned and not in session.

Charles County



Board of Charles County Commissioners

The Board of Charles County Commissioners will meet on Tuesday at 9 am. During this session, they will hold a briefing and hear a request to introduce and schedule a public hearing on Bill 2023-(12) Removal of Elected County Commissioner.The Commissioner will also have a public hearing later in the day at 6:15 pm to discuss the 2023 Proposed Bond Issuance


Charles County Board of Education

There will not be a meeting of the Charles County Board of Education.

Montgomery County Council

The Montgomery County Council will meet at Tuesday at 9 am. The major item on the agenda is the State Legislative Proposals from the Montgomery County Executive Branch for the 2024 State Legislative Session of the General Assembly.

The Montgomery County Board of Education will not have a public meeting this week.

Prince George's County



Prince George's County Council


The Prince George's County Council will convene its meeting tomorrow at 10:00 AM, featuring a significant agenda with several noteworthy bills and resolutions. These include CB-096-2023-Local Business Childcare Grant Program, which would support local businesses in offering childcare services to employees. CB-097-2023 -Returning Citizens Fair Chance to Housing, which addresses housing opportunities for returning citizens. CB-098-2023-LABOR – Minimum Wage for Tipped Employees, which focuses on establishing minimum wage standards for tipped employees. CB-099-2023-County Employee Access to Local Health Care, which aims to improve county employees' access to local healthcare.


Prince George's County Board of Education


The Prince George's County Board of Education will not have a public meeting this week.

 

Virginia

Virginia General Assembly:

Both the Virginia House of Delegates and the Virginia Senate are adjourned and not in session.

The Alexandria City School Board will not have a public meeting this week.

The Fairfax County School Board will not hold a full Board meeting this week.
