CLPA List of Upcoming DC Area Policy Meetings (October 10th -October 15th)

Here is CLPA's weekly list of upcoming meetings.

There is a good amount of activity in the DC Council this week. On Tuesday at 1:00 pm, the Council will hold a public roundtable to discuss DC's "No Shots, No School" policy. As a recap, under current D.C. law, students are mandated to have all of their required childhood vaccinations to attend school. The “no shots, no school” policy state that families vaccinate their students within 20 days after being notified that they are out of compliance. The policy generated much controversy in the City since the COVID vaccine for students aged 12 and up is included in the list of required vaccinations following the passage of the Coronavirus Immunization of School Students and Early Childhood Workers Regulation Emergency Amendment Act of 2021. The COVID-19 vaccine requirement is not set to begin until January 3, 2023, other traditional vaccinations will need to be administered by October 11.

Maryland and Virginia's legislative bodies are in session this week as well. Note that the Alexandria City Council and the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors are in session this week after a short recess. In Maryland, both the Montgomery County and Prince Georges's County Councils are in session. Montgomery County will see the introduction of a bill that will change requirements regarding the office of the Inspector General, we will provide an update on that later in the week. The Prince George's County Council will transmit their letter of appointment for the members of the County's new Police Accountability Board.
